Willie Jones, long-time Akron resident, has always found art to be a mode of personal expression. Jones recalls moving to Akron, Ohio from Montgomery, Alabama at the age of 7 in 1942. Full of inspiration, he’d use the backs of magazines or whatever paper was available to create art and to allow his hand to find juxtapositions of shape and color.
Since moving to Akron, Jones has amassed a collection of intricate works featuring webs of lines and color which often provoke multi-dimensional thought and bring viewers to interpretations of their own.
We are excited to have curated a series for you to admire and enjoy.
The Artist asks that you freely share how you see his work and what stands out to you literally and figuratively. Stop in on Friday, March 10th between 4:00 and 8:00 pm to preview the exhibition and return on Saturday, March 11th, from 6:00 - 8:00 pm to meet Jones, learn more about his inspirations, and purchase pieces to add to your personal collections.
Ps, SEVERAL never before seen surprise pieces will be on display during this showcase!
